CASCADE, Iowa — A historic beer cave has been unearthed from its sandy slumbers underneath the old Frank L. May Brewery. Originally built in the 1870s by German stone masons and owned by German immigrant Frank May, the brewery manufactured around 2,500 barrels of beer a year and was reportedly one of the most extensive inland breweries in the U.S.
After the original brewery closed, the building served several functions over the years, most recently home to the Cascade Food Pantry, and is currently undergoing renovation after purchase by Brian Bock, of Iowa Main Street Investments.

A second location of a popular sub sandwich chain is set to open this summer in Dubuque.
A Jersey Mike’s Subs will open at 4855 Asbury Road in late May or early June, according to owner Aron Lees.
Lees also owns the other location in Dubuque at 3500 Dodge St. as well as locations in the Quad Cities area, Iowa City, Iowa, area and Milwaukee, Wis.
“The first (Dubuque) store was a tremendous success, and we see how much traffic there is in Asbury, that we felt the need to spread the brand and
create more of an ecosystem,” Lees said.

Quick and easy family dinners often feel few and far between, but you can make them a more frequent occurrence by depending on seafood as a
flavorful, easy-to-prepare protein.
Today, more than half of all seafood consumed in the U.S. is raised by aquaculture, also known as seafood farming. While this industry has made
strides throughout the last few decades, from increasingly sustainable farming practices to technological advancements, not all seafood farms are equal and neither are the certifications you see on the packaging.
Aquaculture helps meet the ever-growing popularity of seafood and provides people in developing countries with healthy protein. It also aids in
rebuilding populations of threatened and endangered species along with boosting wild stocks of freshwater and seawater species. By ensuring supply chain integrity from farm to the store, the Aquaculture Stewardship Council’s (ASC) Sea Green certification label lets shoppers know they’re protecting oceans, coasts and wildlife while also investing in restoring them.
